This tube wreath tutorial is just in time for Christmas! You can make a small wreath to hang on interior doors, a mirror or on a shelf above the kitchen pots and pans to help get you into the Christmas spirit.
The tube wreath is super super simple to make and looks great.
Materials needed:
3 strips of holiday fabric – each 16″ long and 3″ wide plus matching thread and polyester fiberfill.
With right sides together, sew the long sides of each strip. Turn inside out. Fold to the inside one of the short ends and stitch closed.
Stuff each tube tightly with fiberfil. Turn the open end to the inside and stitch closed.
Hand sew the strips together at one end – be sure they are tightly stitched. Braid the three strips tightly, then sew the end of the braid to keep the braided tubes from coming apart. Form the braided length into a circle to form the wreath and stitch the two ends together.
Here’s the final finished project —
You could add a little mistletoe to the top of the wreath, make it bigger by using longer strips, or longer and wider strips. Why not make a really great one for your front door by using 1 yard strips by 5 or 6″ wide.
Fabric tubes can be used in so many ways — did you happen to catch the tube cushion tutorial I did for my personal blog? Here’s a picture of that “tube” creation.
Do you have other uses for fabric tubes? We’d be happy to show your tube projects to our readers.
