Creative Photo Styling Tips

July 21, 2009 by S. Denise Hoyle Leave a Comment

Whether you’re taking pictures of products you have for sale, or of the necessary steps in a tutorial, you want to create the best possible shots.  When you’re displaying your wares on the Internet, a picture isn’t just worth a thousand words, it’s worth the whole sale!  Try selling something online without pictures at all – you won’t have much luck.  While some pictures are better than none at all, bad or unflattering pictures won’t help to increase sales by much.

Ella at Mint Design Blog recently posted “The 5 C’s of Photo Styling with Kim Ludy of Trampoline” to help with just this issue.  Kim sells original art and beautiful vintage and antiques in her Etsy store and as you can tell from the gorgeous images she posts in her store, Kim knows how to create fantastic photo shots.

The 5 C’s – camera, clarity, composition and crop, color, and consistency – seem easy when you follow along with Kim’s tips.  Take a few minutes to brush up on these 5 C’s so that you can learn how to stage better shots and make more sales or attract more readers.  I’ve been inspired to practice adding some style to my own shots!
