Have a Crafty Staycation

June 18, 2009 by S. Denise Hoyle Leave a Comment

The summer months are always busy with weddings, cookouts, ball games and the seemingly endless yard work.  I’f you’re ready for a vacation but can’t really get away due to the economy or time constraints, why not plan a crafty “staycation”?

A staycation is simply code for staying home for vacation – in addition to saving money, you avoid the hassle of travel, plus you can schedule some quality time with your family AND your favorite hobbies.

I tend to try and squeeze my sewing projects in as time allows, and unfortunately that means I have more than a few unfinished gems lying around.  I’m super excited about the thought of a “crafty staycation” where I can enjoy some time off of work to decompress and plan some fun summer activities with the kids.  But really I’m secretly coveting the extra “me time” that I’m planning to spend finishing up oodles of projects, and of course I’ve already got fabric lined up for a couple of new projects.

Too often we have the tendency to try and rush to finish projects between our other daily commitments, and it can zap the joy out of our creative expressions.  They say time is money, well I’m looking forward to having more of one while spending less of the other, during what I’m sure will be the best vacation I’ve ever not taken!
