Amazon isn’t just about books anymore – you can buy almost anything at Amazon.com these days, including patterns and some sewing tools.  Pretty soon you’ll be able to buy custom cut fabric there too!  Amazon announced this week that it has acquired Fabric.comfor an undisclosed amount.

Launched in 1999 by Stephen Friedman, Fabric.comhas developed a significant customer base of sewers and crafters, and today offers a comprehensive line of fabrics in all three major fabric categories, including apparel, quilting and home décor.

The move could be a win-win situation for everyone with Amazon gaining an established and loyal audience of sewing enthusiasts, while Fabric.comusers benefit from Amazon’s outstanding checkout system and excellent fulfillment services.
