From Sewing Student to Successful Skirt Designer

June 21, 2008 by S. Denise Hoyle Leave a Comment

Frenchie Bunch of Columbia, South Carolina, decided to take a sewing class when her favorite bed linens needed repairing.  Frenchie still has the first skirt she made in that class, it has darts that are backward and upside down.  She ended up liking the class so much that she quit her tennis class to learn more and before the end of that class she was making all kinds of skirts for all kinds of people so she found an experienced seamstress at the local fabric store to mentor her to help her go into business designing and selling her skirts.

That was three years ago.  Frenchie continued to work as a paralegal while working on her new business on nights and weekends.  She had fittings in her home and clients changed in her bedroom.  Frenchie now has a studio for her successful full-time business, Frenchie Skirts, where her skirts sell quickly for between $130 to $320 depending on the fabric.  Read more about Frenchie’s story here http://www.centredaily.com/entertainment/story/662779.html
