With most parts of the country experiencing very wintry weather right now, some of you may not want to hear that many schools have been closed in our Lower Alabama/Northwest Florida area today because we MAY be getting some snow this afternoon. Funny right? But keep in mind that most schools (and many homes) in our area are not really equipped to stay warm in freezing weather, and you don’t want to be out on the roads with a bunch of people who have NO experience driving in snow! At any rate, we’ve been doing lots of indoor activities around here lately and I wanted to share some project tutorials that are perfect for staying indoors and keeping warm 🙂

About.com has a great tutorial for creating this cutwork sweatshirt. The heart theme is terrific for Valentine’s Day, or you can choose another shape you might like. This is also an awesome way to hide a stain on an otherwise good sweatshirt since the placement of the hearts is completely up to you.
This beautiful Valentine’s Day heart wreath from I Love to Craft can be made from scraps. I like this idea because I have a bunch of kids and they can each create their own individual hearts and all have a hand in the final wreath. I’m betting this is one we pull out year after year to use as a Valentine’s decoration.
Here is a simple fleece snowman project from the Craft Elf that takes very little sewing and is perfect if you have smaller children who would like to help stuff and apply blush to their snowmen.
